Serial monogamy may sound absurd at first. Is it even possible? Aren't the terms a contradiction in themselves? Monogamy or the practice of having only one mate or partner, has traditionally been associated with faithfulness. The key idea behind this was the belief that someone who practices monogamy would be content with only one partner, in all aspects of a relationship, most of all the sexual aspect.While that may have been true decades ago, today, such a stand is  now more the exception than the rule. In a lot of modern societies, even though someone may be legally married to only one person, it doesn't follow that s/he is keeping to the straight and narrow always. The restrictions imposed by marriage vows have not been enough to limit the behavior of all married people. Faithfulness has not been coinciding with monogamy for some time now.And there's the rub.
